Eddie is destined for a grand and captivating life, but so far there has been little sign of it. So things have to change. She says goodbye to her old life, determined to face her fears.
She goes to work for the idiosyncratic Kees Bank, with whom she empties the houses of deceased people. She takes care of Kate, a young wanderer, who drags her into a suffocating underworld.
In the meantime, she broods on grand plans, struggles with her delusions and finds solace in anime and music. All this in the hope of giving her life meaning. But the more she tries to get a grip on reality, the more things escalate.
